01Problem

Uptime is not recoverability

Intuit's obligation is to keep the platform available, and it meets that obligation. What Intuit does not undertake is that your company file can be restored after a bad import, a mis-mapped integration that rewrote a year of transactions, or a session that turned out not to belong to your bookkeeper.

For most businesses the ledger is the one dataset with no second source. Email can be reconstructed from the people on the thread and files can be recreated from drafts. The books can only be reconstructed from the books.

02Operation

How it runs

Automated, continuous backup of your QuickBooks Online company, with unlimited storage and nothing to install: no hardware, no software, and no scheduled export somebody has to remember. Backup, download, restore, and replication status are visible, and the copy is reachable from any device in any location. Pricing is per company file rather than per user, so a five-person bookkeeping team constitutes one line.

03 · Security architecture

Outside Intuit, outside your office

Encrypted with AES-256 at rest and in transit, against a service target of 99.99% data availability. The vault sits with neither Intuit nor you, which is what carries it through the full spread of failures: the import that wrote nine hundred incorrect lines, the third-party application nobody audited, and the login that turned out to belong to someone patient and hostile.

Financial data attracts a particular kind of adversary: one who edits rather than destroys. A continuous history with restore points is how you establish what changed and roll back to before it changed, and it is also how you evidence the state of the books at a given date, which is a conversation you would much rather have with documentation in hand.

04Recovery

Getting it back

Return the company to an earlier state, retrieve only the records that were damaged, or replicate the dataset into a clean company file. One click, a matter of minutes, from wherever you happen to be when you discover the problem.

Where this line stops

One line covers one QuickBooks Online company. Multiple entities, such as an operating company alongside a property company, each require their own line. QuickBooks Desktop files residing on a server are protected by Physical Server instead.
